Patricia joined the UK Centre for Legal Education, part of the Higher Education Academy, in December 2005. As E-Learning Advisor her remit is to support and develop e-learning in UK Law Schools. She is primarily involved in identifying, monitoring, managing and mentoring e-learning projects for the subject community. She is currently supporting a major project to develop an open source application based on the Transactional Learning Environment (TLE) created at Strathclyde by Paul Maharg. She is also managing a project on e-portfolios with three partner institutions and a project to consider how VLEs are used in legal education. Patricia also has a role in the development of an e-learning application aimed at new law teachers.

Prior to joining UKCLE Patricia was in practice for 10 years before becoming a lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University where she taught Civil and Criminal Court Procedure. To support this module she and Karen Barton developed the first iteration of the Virtual Court Action, an early example of active learning in legal education. Subsequently, as Senior Lecturer in Legal Practice, at Strathclyde University Patricia she designed and developed a webcast learning environment for a blended learning module which replaced lectures with webcasts together with associated resources and multimedia units. She continues to work with Paul Maharg and Karen Barton developing projects for the TLE in particular the Civil Court Action which she also facilitates remotely.

Patricia is married to Quintin, has  four children and lives on a farm in Hertfordshire, England.  The whole family are keen rowers and while the rest of the family compete, Patricia coaches the junior club members.
